Im posting some information about a simple way to make a CH Chain successful. I spoke to Swifthand last night after the Vindicator Raid and asked for his permission to post this to Dragonchow to help us become more successful when taking on mobs that are going to require a Complete Heal Chain way of healing our MT, SA, and etc if we should have that happen.
Im not an expert or know it all I just want to try to help us as a whole in whatever way I can thru my own experiences from being in a CH Chain Gang.
First you need to set up hotkeys that are similiar to the one im about to show you. I have found that if all of us healers use the same format it will be alot less confusing and much easier to read thru battle spam and other things that are scrolling by you during a battle. You get used to seeing it and it starts to become more of a habit for you because that is what you are expecting to see. It will also help if we choose a name for the cleric chat during a raid such as dcclerics, like we had last night, and always use that same chat so that when we know a CH chain is going to be put into use we automatically join that channel on that raid.
Example of my hotkey that I use all the time:
Chain CH ( title )
/cast 3 ( or whatever # of spell gem you keep your CH in )
/2 CH <<< %t >>> CH <25>
/pause <25> ( This # is the same as the one above and changes when it needs to, to fit the chain heal pauses )
/2 GO SANITSOSIS ( not picking on Sani just using you for an example =)
During a raid I have the dc*** in chat 1 so my cleric channel is usually chat 2 but you can set your key up however you need to according to what chat #'s you use. Putting the final line in all caps makes it simple and much easier for us to find our name during the battle. If for some reason you should go LOM or OOM you will be skipped a round or two or however long you need to get some mana and get back to work. ALWAYS know who is before you and after you when in a chain it will help us all know who to skip due to OOM, LD, death, etc.
Secondly ALL healers need to know what the Tanking line is going to be. You always have a Main Tank < MT > a Second Assist < SA > and on occassion a 3rd-5th for assisting. That is what will either break your CH chain or make your CH chain a success. Reason being, if we all dont know what the tanking line is going to be then we dont know who to heal next if our MT should fall and cant get up =/ That is exactly what happened last night when we went for Vindi, you all did well following the lead and healing who I chose but I still feel responisible for our failure because thru it all I myself didnt give a tanking line to the healer chain. By the time it took us to target and start healing again it was already to late. I appologize to all of you for not giving a tanking line order. To avoid chaos for future raids we all should make targeting keys. I have these already and they usually work well but they have been know to say " I see no one around here by that name " which means they are out of range. Move up and click the key again try for fast targetting in all situations. It's easier to just change the name on the key than to make new keys every raid.
Example:
/targ Alhanon
/cast 3
/2 CH <<< %t >>> CH <25>
/pause 25
/2 GO SANITSOSIS
/targ Gnawbone
/cast 3
/2 CH <<< %t >>> CH <25>
/pause 25
/2 GO SANITSOSIS
The 3 is where I keep my Complete Heal loaded up in the spell gem holder, a quick target and a CH going off at the same time helps also. You can do the simple way of targetting also with just /targ then take the time to type in the persons name **** but then you have to go and click on your CH key again and that wastes time.
( Almost done promise )
The final key I want to teach you is the ever hated FIZZLE KEY! Yes even the best healers out there will fizzle on occassion and with the increase of fizzling /bonks Sony it seems to start happening alot more lately and usually at the worst moment. If you fizzle your CH hotkey you have to go up and click on your CH spell gem manually. To save time I have a key for this too it looks like this.
Fizzle!
/cast 3
/2 FIZZLED CH INC
/2 GO SANITSOSIS
That is all the information I have to give and will happily answer any questions or take any advice that is given if anyone has some. As I said in the beginning of this post im NOT an expert and dont know everything I just want to help all of you.
Hugs,
Kahlien
